Heiwa Na Kaimetsu

Foundation Set 1: Recovery
Type: Defense
This is one of the most vital pieces of information in all of martial arts. Not using this properly defeats more martial artists than every black belt tournament, street fighter, and lack of funding issue combined.
Recovery keeps you and your partner safe while training, and in situations outside of the dojo. This is used to instruct you on how to survive the techniques used against you and protect you from accidents, mistakes, or instances of a lack of control.
-
Rolling from side, front, back, and angles. Make sure to roll over your shoulders and to your hips. Your head should never touch the ground.
-
Break falls from front, back, left, and right. Keep your arms bent at 45* (penguin arms). Slap with the surface from your elbow to your fingertips. For backwards and forwards break falls, as you get low to the ground, extend your knees and launch yourself a bit to maintain structure and increase fall time.
-
Defensive Stand Up: When standing up from the ground, keep your eye on your target, push with your hands and jump your feet backwards, rise to your stance with your hands extended to your target in a defensive manner.
